⌘⌫ yields to text editing: while your cursor is in a text field it deletes to the start of the line instead. With nothing to delete, it deletes the task only from that task's own blank title or blank note; in any other empty box (the link window, search, a subtask) it does nothing. A deleted task goes to Recently Deleted.

Any Shortcut you build, such as Open URL kando://new, can be given a keyboard shortcut in the Shortcuts app on the Mac, which is how to get a global capture key. See Shortcuts.
