Imager doesn't collect anything.
Last updated October 10, 2026
What Imager does with your files
Imager optimizes images entirely on your Mac, using open-source compression tools bundled inside the app. The images you drop on it are read, rewritten in place and never leave your computer. The original of each optimized file is moved to your Trash so you can bring it back.
What Imager collects
Nothing. Imager has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. It does not transmit your images or any personal data to us or to anyone else.
Metadata in your images
By default Imager removes metadata such as EXIF camera details, GPS coordinates and color profiles from PNG and JPEG files, because that data makes files larger. This happens on your Mac and can be turned off in Settings › Quality. A small record of files that could not be shrunk (a hash of the file and your settings, not the image itself) is kept in your Caches folder so they are skipped next time.
Updates
Imager checks beardfm.app for new versions using the open-source Sparkle framework. That request carries the app's version and your macOS version so the right update can be offered, and nothing else. You can turn automatic checks off in Settings.
