ShortVid doesn't collect anything.

What ShortVid does with your links
When a shortcut runs the Download Video action, ShortVid passes the link you gave it to yt-dlp, a program bundled inside the app, which downloads the video from that site to your Mac. The request goes from your Mac to the video site directly, exactly as a browser would make it, and the file is written to a cache folder in your Library and handed to Shortcuts. Files older than a day are cleared from that folder.
What ShortVid collects
Nothing. ShortVid has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. We never see the links you download or the videos you get, and the app has no server of its own.
Network requests
ShortVid only talks to the internet when you ask it to: the video site for a download, and github.com when you choose Update yt-dlp…, which fetches the latest yt-dlp release from the yt-dlp project's official releases page. That request carries no information about you beyond what any download does.
Your responsibility
Downloading a video may be subject to the terms of the site it comes from and to copyright law. ShortVid is a tool; what you download with it, and what you do with the result, is up to you.
