HomePad Support
HomePad is made by one person, and I read every message. Check the common questions below, or send me a message with which iPad you're on and what you expected to happen.
Getting started
- Touch and hold anywhere on a screen to enter edit mode. Tap Add to pick accessories, scenes, cameras and clocks from your home.
- Drag a tile to move it. Tap the corner badge to make it small, medium or large, or to remove it.
- Swipe past the last screen and tap the big + to add another screen. You can have up to 20.
- Open Settings (the gear in the corner) to change the wallpaper, how clear the glass is, and whether the iPad stays awake.
Common questions
- HomePad says it needs Home access. Go to Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Home and turn on HomePad. The app only shows what Apple's Home app already knows about.
- No home found. Set up a home and add at least one accessory in Apple's Home app first, then come back and tap Try Again.
- An accessory shows “No Response”. It is unreachable in HomeKit. Check it in the Home app; once it responds there, HomePad will update on its own.
- A camera tile is black. HomeKit allows one live stream per camera at a time. If the Home app or another device is already watching, the tile falls back to the last snapshot.
- Tiles moved when I rotated the iPad. Landscape and portrait have their own layouts, so you can arrange each orientation the way you like.
- The screen keeps going to sleep. Turn on Keep Screen Awake in HomePad's settings. It only applies while HomePad is open.
Privacy
HomePad collects nothing and has no servers. Read the privacy policy.

Include which iPad you're on and, for a bug, what you expected and what happened. A screenshot helps.
